Happy International Women's Day!

Yay for supporting the growth and development of ladies all over the world! I have sponsored a woman through Women for Women International and so far have gotten a couple of letters from her!  Her name is Adicsa and she lives in Bosnia and is part of a year-long training program through Women for Women. She's about my age and has a 4-year old son and is doing the program to learn a skill that she can turn into a home-business that she can use to help support her family. All it takes is just a little support here and there and we can change the world!  Well, at least I think so . . . perhaps Rush Limbaugh would disagree with me.

Had a lovely dinner with D at Lucques on our 2-year anniversary. D had the endive salad with dungeness crab, sugar snaps, apples and curry cream and the striped sea bass with beet purée, watercress salad and blood orange butter. My entrees included the ricotta dumplings with english peas, pecorino and meyer lemon salsa and the lobster pasta amoricaine with english peas, pea shoots, green garlic and tomato confit. Then we split a dessert of mini chocolate confections, our favorite of which was the home-made chocolate peanut butter cups! Fun little environment out on their porch and it got packed quickly, which I thought was odd for a Tuesday night . . . that's West Hollywood for you I guess! I think D's main entree was better than mine, but luckily we shared a lot so I was very content at the end of the meal. We'll see where we'll go for next year's anniversary!
